A few updates.

I know that some Dzurissins have been hitting the site lately, so they know the site's been updated regarding their information. For those who haven't been here for a while, the site's been updated a little regarding their information (See how I did that?) I really need to add some more stuff—it just keeps coming! That's a good thing :)

Dates are always biggies, and I just today noticed a wrong date. It was on the colored, bare-bones-genealogy chart. The chart listed Basilus Demko's death date as the same as his son's: March 01, 1929. It was actually August 20, 1874. The date was correct on his page, though. I've already changed the charts. Sorry for screwing up anyone's notes.

I am a descendant of Helen Demko Dzurissin and I find the lighthearted graphic you have included about “insanity” to be particularly insensitive considering the circumstances of Helen’s death and it’s painful consequences. I would like to be in touch but I don’t believe our side of the family should be treated as “other.” Helen had a condition that caused her much pain and felt there was no solution for this unbearable pain. Back then they had no remedy, no anti-depressants, nothing that would alleviate her suffering. The tragic end to her life was the beginning of significant challenges for her husband and children, who had to be raised in orphanages for most of their childhoods until their father could finally bring them home. Helen’s children grew up strong. Her oldest daughter, my mom, Helen, went on to put herself through college, meet the love of her life, Curt, and raise 6 children. She was the best mom ever to us, all without having the example of her own mother to rely on. When their kids were grown, Helen and Curt dedicated themselves to serving the poor and homeless for many years. When Curt died in 2000, Helen continued, leading members of her church in cooking and serving meals twice a week until we’ll into her 80’s. My mom is now 91 years old and thriving, still in love with life and having fun with her family.

Back in 2013-2014, there was a blog post that included a newspaper article on the death of Helen Demko Dzurissin. It appears to be off the site now. Can someone assist me in finding this article about my grandmother? Thank you!
